My grandmother passed away late last week after a short bout with pneumonia. She lived a good, long, and happy life and was surrounded by a loving family during her last hours. Other than the stress associated with budget and construction, I have had a very nice summer. I started out by chaperoning a group of teenagers on a trip to San Diego to do some work for a local community-based organization. I have done this for the last 5 or 6 years and it is always one of the highlights of my summer. Our society is so quick to judge young people. It looks like we finally have a budget from the state – for now. However, experts are already predicting another round of cuts by next January when reality sets in once again.
