Thank you all for your comments. These are great suggestions. I am very proud of our students and the CSM community for understanding that we are all in this together. There is no "us vs. them" - only "us". We need to put our focus and energy on the true source of the problem and speak with a single voice. A group of faculty and students have organized a candlelight vigil in support of education - we are holding the vigil in the courtyard outside of the Theatre on Monday, November 23 at 5:00 PM - hope to see you there!

It is important to register as soon as possible. Half of my classes are already full as of yesterday and I have many students waitlisted as well. However, from my experience, I will give you the following advise.

1) Register ASAP
2) If a class is full, add yourself to the waitlist. Most often I am able to add many of the waitlisted students into my classes due to students changing their schedules around or not showing up the first week...
3) If you can not make it to class on day 1, contact the instructor ahead of time. They do have the right to drop you on day 1 if you don't show up and give your seat to a student who does show.
4) Become an activist, write your congress people, the governor, etc... Let them know what courses & programs are important to you. Share personal growth experiences that you've had at CSM and why Community Colleges are such a vital resource. I attended a Community College which is what inspired me to eventually become a CC instructor!
5) Stay Positive. Know that your faculty and administrators are here to support you all to the best degree that they (we) can.
6) Eat well, Stretch, Floss, & Breathe ; )

Lots of news to come, but I want to recommend that each and every one of our faculty, student body and administration write at least one letter to Arnold, Jerry Hill or a newspaper- TODAY! People need to know what is taking place and how dire the situation is. I heard from a student today that our Spring classes are almost full? Can this be, we are only in priority registration!

I agree with you, we don’t have to panic. I’m continuing with my education, I’m applying to get A.A. degree and in the mid time I’ll take a few classes that I need to meet my transfer requirements. A good advise for all students “register early” and for those who have priority registration take advantage of it.
